What does this service offer: <\/strong>Support for Disabled survivors of Hate Crime.<\/p>

What we offer: <\/strong>We support disabled people who have experienced hate crimes. We provide individual casework from help to report to the Police and other agencies and to make Statements right through to applying for Special Measures if the matter gets to Court. Every step of the way, we make sure you understand the process and feel involved and safe.<\/p>

We explain Criminal Justice System procedures and jargon and provide liaison and advocacy with agencies such as the Police, Local Authority, landlords, etc., the aim being to ensure victims are listened to and that the abuse stops.<\/p>

How it helps: <\/strong>Disabled people are far more likely to experience hate crimes than non-disabled people. Our goal is to support survivors to challenge the treatment they have experienced and make our society more inclusive for everyone.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

What is a hate crime?<\/strong>
Community Alliance To Combat Hate (CATCH) is an exciting new Hate Crime Advocacy partnership of 6 organisations (Including CHOICE IN HACKNEY ) to tackle hate crime, discrimination and abuse in Hackney and Westminster. CATCH is commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC), which is responsible for commissioning victim’s services in London.

What is a disability hate crime?<\/strong>
A disability hate crime is any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim, or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice based on a person\u2019s disability or perceived disability.
This includes anyone targeted as a result of their physical disability, sensory impairment, learning disability or mental health needs. Hate crimes and incidents can be committed against a person or property.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
