Volunteering Opportunities

Choice in Hackney

CHOICE IN HACKNEY is a Disabled People User Led Organisation, which means we're run by disabled people, for disabled people.

We are committed to empowering disabled people by working to the social model of disability.

The majority of the members of the Board of Trustees are disabled people who themselves are users of our services.

Our Befriender+ project matches volunteers with disabled people. Volunteers help service users to engage in social and leisure activities such as accompanying them to parks, cinemas, concerts, shopping and for walks to improve their health and wellbeing. We always match volunteers with service users on the basis of mutual preferences and volunteers have the right not to perform any tasks they are not comfortable with.

We also have opportunities for volunteers supporting CHOICE in an office environment, These may include: administration, project support and development, research, and personal assistance to disabled advocates.

These opportunities come up at different times throughout the year and may not be available at all times.
If you have an active interest in any of these areas please feel free to contact us to discuss further details.
