ACTIVE LIFESTYLE PROJECT
The Active Lifestyle Project has resumed.
Choice in Hackney's Active Lifestyle Project is here to help disabled people in the borough to get more involved with sports and fitness. If you're a disabled person wanting to try something new, find a team or get sports coaching, we can help.We all know there are many benefits to keeping your body as fit and healthy as possible, such as boosting your energy levels, controlling your weight and improving your sleep pattern.
These are only the tip of the iceberg.
The Active Lifestyle Project can also help you meet new people and make friends. If you are new to sport or don't know where to start, the Active Lifestyle Project can also match you up to a Sports Buddy, a Choice Volunteer, who will be keen to share their love of sports and leisure with you. They can join you on activities and help you kick start your programme! Perhaps you would like to find a local walking group to join? Or perhaps you like being in a team? Hackney has some great team sports to get involved with such as football and wheelchair basketball.
Hackney also has some first class wheelchair tennis coaches.
It doesn't have to cost the earth either as every weekend there are many free events to get involved with such as the Hackney Marshes parkrun. You don't have to go to a gym or sports centre. There are many exercises you can do at home with cheap equipment, or no equipment at all!
If you're already involved in sport and fitness and would like to share your skills and enthusiasm then please join us because we're also looking for volunteers who can spare some time introducing people to new activities. There's never been a better time to take up a new activity.
Please get in touch with the Volunteer Administrator for the Active Lifestyle Project, Paul Fosu for further information.
He is available Mondays and Tuesdays from 10.00am - 5.00pm.
